Grace Church Mission Statement & Core Values
Mission Statement
The people of Grace Church Brooklyn Heights, guided by the Episcopal faith tradition and inspired by the prayers of generations in our historic church, seek to bring our lives and our community into unity with God by growing in faith, creating an inclusive community, serving with compassion, and working for social justice.
And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
Narrated by Allison Scott and prepared by the Grace Church Core Values Working Group, the video presentation above outlines the Mission and Core Values of Grace Church Brooklyn Heights.
Core Values
Growing in Faith | Creating an Inclusive Community | Serving with Compassion | Working for Social Justice
Growing in Faith
We learn to follow and proclaim Jesus as individuals and as a congregation through lifelong education, worship, and spiritual discovery, so that we may be transformed in Christ.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:9
Creating an Inclusive Community
We celebrate the diversity of God’s people, and we invite all to join us. Whoever you are, whomever you love, and wherever you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here.
For I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
Matthew 25:35
Serving with Compassion
With humility, we serve those in need in our church, our city and our world.
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
Matthew 25:40
Working for Social Justice
We are called to love our neighbors as ourselves, and we are committed to sharing God’s love, working together for a fairer, more just society.
Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression.
Isaiah 1:17
