Invitations to God's Kingdom | The Rev. Dr. Allen F. Robinson | Sunday, October 11, 2026

“We live in a society and a culture where there are some folk you try to avoid because you know that if you say, ‘Good morning,’ the first response back is, ‘What’s good about it?'” shared the Rev. Dr. Allen F. Robinson while preaching at Grace Church. “There are folks who just can’t find happiness, and if they’re not happy, you can’t be happy. That’s not the kind of party God is inviting us to!” Reflecting on the Gospel, Matthew 22:1-14, Rev. Allen offers a unique perspective on the Parable of the Wedding Banquet. “Here at Grace Church, we’ve all said yes to the invitation. But the invitation comes with responsibility. It means that we give up judging one another, we give up criticizing one another, we seek to see the good in each other, and we’re about the business of building wholesome, positive communities.” He also gave examples of how Grace Church parishioners are doing God’s work: hosting a homeless shelter this month, offering Community Dinners, and working side by side with residents in Red Hook to address food insecurity. “Grace Church just didn’t get an invitation. We are working to be clothed in the proper spiritual attire so that we may do God’s work faithfully,” he added.
